Museum and Library

The 1895 Public School is a museum, with a library, containing many interesting artifacts, documents and photographs relating to the following:

  • Ambler Borough
  • Lower Gwynedd Township
  • Whitpain Township
  • Archaeological and Geologic Items – the Native American collection, and native rocks and minerals
  • Artwork – paintings, prints, and signs
  • Books – local, U.S., world, school books, ledgers, diaries, genealogy, cookbooks, dictionaries, religion, music, arts & crafts, biographies, atlases, and tax maps
  • Business and Industry – Keasbey & Mattison, Amchem Products, Ambler Theater, and many others
  • Community – churches, cemeteries, schools, roads, railroads, fire companies, and public libraries
  • Documents – deeds, mortgages, leases, maps, blueprints, and patents
  • Equipment – typewriters, check printer, cash register, telephone, and a voting booth
  • Ephemera – advertisements, magazines, and newspapers
  • Flags – local, state, U.S., and foreign
  • Historic sites –  buildings and tavern information
  • Household Items – tables, chairs, stained glass, utensils, pans, vacuum, pottery, and glassware
  • Military and Boy Scout items
  • Photographs – parks, schools, postcards, meetings, historic properties, individuals, and sports teams
  • Prehistoric footprint set in rock from local quarry
  • School Items – desks, chalkboards, pencil boxes, notebooks, report cards, diplomas, and yearbooks
  • Textiles – quilts, dresses, suits, hats, feathers, shoes, sweaters, uniforms, and leather
  • Tools – agricultural, carpentry, and farming
  • Toys – blocks, hoops, puzzles, skates, skateboard, board games, and a croquet game
